From Doja Cat to Prince: the Best Songs You Should Be Listening to Right Now

Prince’s Welcome 2 America, an album originally recorded in 2010, is set to be released this July. The singer’s estate has issued a slate of remastered recordings and compilations since his death in 2016, but this project will be Prince’s first studio album to be released posthumously. The album’s title track is a disillusioned take on modern life told through vibrating bass and Prince’s cynical lyrics. “Mass media, information overload / Welcome to America,” he sings monotonically in the first verse.

Then, she shrugs and blots her face as she switches back to her native Korean. “You’d think there would be a point where I’d stop crying!” That day will likely come, but it probably won’t be until after

Doja Cat’s ‘Planet Her’: How She Rocketed to a New Dimension

Among her panoply of onstage appearances over the last year, the one that cemented Doja Cat’s Main Pop Girl status didn’t initially look like a Doja Cat performance at all; had Grammy Awards host Trevor Noah not announced her name, people might not even have recognized her. Covered head to toe in black latex, Doja appeared silhouetted in a row of dancers, just barely lit by lasers. “I’ve been preparing,” she purred. “Grammys, welcome to Planet Her.” She then launched into one of her many live reimaginings of “Say So” — this one with sex-robot choreography and a glitchy EDM
