Omaha woman cited after pit bull attack in Benson | National News

The two pit bulls that attacked an Omaha couple and their dog Sunday night could be released from impoundment if their owner can prove that they are up to date on rabies shots.

Pam Wiese, spokeswoman for the Nebraska Humane Society, said the dogs were picked up after the attack and impounded on a 10-day rabies hold. If the dogs have been vaccinated, they can spend the remainder of that supervised impoundment at home, she said.

Legislators seek to modernize laws | National News

State Rep. Robby Carter’s House Bill 203 calls for eliminating state income tax and his HB 305 would levy a statewide property tax of 100 mills on the dollar of assessed valuation.

A third tax bill by Carter, HB 448, would repeal the state tax levied on taxable income of individuals, estates and trusts, and corporations; repeal income tax exemptions; and limit certain tax credits to corporation franchise tax.

Tax reform is a focus of the legislative session currently underway in Baton Rouge, and these three bills by Carter are pending in the House Ways and Means Committee.
