State Department security officer arrested for impersonating police officer

A security officer for the U.S. State Department was arrested and accused of impersonating a police officer after ordering his German shepherd to jump on a motorist’s vehicle during a traffic confrontation in Deltona, Volusia County sheriff’s deputies said.

James Land III, 59, of Deltona, was charged with impersonating a police officer or a public employee. He’s out of the Volusia County Branch Jail on $2,500.

Video Shows Sacramento Police Witness Emotional Reunion as Stolen Dog Is Returned to Owner

Sacramento Police shared a video of the moment a woman was reunited with her missing dog on Wednesday.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, Rubi Rose was reported stolen from her owner Amanda Duhaime’s front yard in Sacramento, California, over past the weekend.

SPD Detective Marcel Loriaux took the case and began investigating immediately. He located the suspect’s car and found the dog inside on Wednesday. The suspect is in custody for theft-related charges, according to a Facebook post from the SPD.

An angelic Saint Bernard named Clarence has been busy earning his wings.

The 10-year-old dog spent this week at the U.S. Capitol to attend services for Capitol police officer William “Billy” Evans, who was killed April 2 when a driver rammed his car into a security barricade outside the complex. Off duty, Kemba is like most other dogs: energetic, playful and totally in love with his ball. But on duty, the 2-year-old German shepherd plays an integral role in Brookline’s public safety, sniffing for explosives and performing security sweeps.

Kemba and his fellow Brookline police dogs, Mack and Bear, are likely the youngest members of the Brookline Police Department — in human years, at least — and certainly the furriest.
